What Parents & Children Do at Wediko
Admissions
Students are referred and placed by public school systems, courts, or families. Students are admitted on a rolling basis.

Dormitory living
Students are assigned to a dorm based on age, developmental maturity,
and "fit" with other students. Dorms are well-supervised and are the
setting for formal and informal group work.
School
Students attend the on-site school from 8:00 a.m. to 2:45 p.m. The
curriculum is similar to that of a student’s home school and includes
math, language arts, social studies, science, and history as well as
art and physical education. 6 to 10 students are assigned to each
classroom, and, based on a student's social and academic needs.
Wediko's school is licensed by the New Hampshire Department of Education.
After-school activities
Taking full advantage of the rural setting, after-school activities
include fishing, swimming, biking, pre-vocational opportunities,
sledding, model-making, and more. Daily group therapy occurs every
day, and evenings are busy with dinner, chores, homework, evening
activity, arcade, and lights-out.
Family involvement
Children staying connected to their families is an important part of the therapeutic process. For some students this means going home on weekends and for school vacations whenever possible. For students who live further away, Wediko encourages monthly family visits. In addition to staying connected, family visits allow students to practice the skills they learn at Wediko in their home environment. The time a child spends at home is often a focus of family therapy.
At Wediko, families are an important part of the treatment team. They are encouraged to be involved in treatment team meetings and throughout the process.
Off-campus activities

Students participate in local activities and can earn incentives including movies, trips to the mall, and
downhill skiing. Some students participate in community service--at
the animal shelter, at nursing homes, or in a soup kitchen.
